W Tree is hidden away at the back of the historical town of Buchan in East Gippsland and around one hours' drive from surf beaches and the Gippsland Lakes. This service makes it possible to for secondary students to live rurally and also connects with the Bairnsdale Train Station.

For the avid four-wheel drivers, motorbike riders and outdoor enthusiasts there are plenty of State Forests and National Parks in the region to explore. A drive further North will see you following the mighty Snowy River into NSW to Jindabyne, a trout fishing mecca and gateway to the NSW snowfields.
